The 2008 Hash House Harriers Dalmatian Cruise

Home Page      Newsletter     Getting to Split    Registration form

Update: We have settled on one boat. MS Labrador, which is the same boat we enjoyed in 2005. The MS Labrador has 18 cabins (7 of these cabins are triple-berth) so this means between 36 and 43 berths. The cabins are all air-conditioned and quieter below for those that want a peaceful night’s sleep! Bookings continue to trickle, rather than flood in, but we are looking good to go!

Meanwhile: Here is some information on those booked so far:

Numbers: As mentioned, those who booked first will have the first opportunity to be on a (noisier) upper deck or a (quieter) lower deck. Late payments and registrations will not have this choice! If you have not paid yet then don’t miss out on another great cruise – send us that payment now!!

Route: No update yet from Antibiotics, but I expect it will still be north from Split to the magical city of Zadar, with possible ports of call taking in Krka waterfalls National Park, the Kornati Islands National Park, and number of beautiful and interesting towns like Primosten, Sibenik, Vodice, Biograd n/m (Biograd On the See), or just a number of great islands.

Cost: The only costs to you are the cruise, the travel to/ from Split, and the booze/ tacky gifts for relatives/ etc.

What do you have to do: Make your travel plans! We have offered some useful links below. Please note that we are both very busy elsewhere, so we cannot promise fast responses to your enquiries about a car storage or that sex shop in Split/ etc. Please be patient and we will respond when we can!

Useful Links: Below are a few URLs to sites that may offer you guidance on Croatia or how to get there. If you find other websites that are good – let me know!

∞ Easyjet: 0905 821 0905 www.easyjet.com flies to Split from London for a good price (I got £81 mid-week), or

∞ Split via Croatia Airlines: 020 8563 0022 (UK) www.croatiaairlines.hrfrom London or Frankfurt (but may be via the capital, Zagreb)

∞ Skyscanner on http://www.skyscanner.net/airline/airlines-all.html, provides lots of options and links to the various airlines.

Parking: On the previous cruise Mike ‘Eileen’ Murray e-mailed car parking details in Split. Hopefully these still apply. The Hotel Marjan had secure parking inside and outside for about 50 Kuna per day (7 Euro or 5GBP) - free for guests. It is located on the harbour side on Obala Kneza Branimira 8, Split. No reservations are apparently necessary.

Accommodation: As well as the Hotel Marjan mentioned left, there is the Pansion Duje (3*) on Smiljaniceva ulica 2, Split. This is about 15 minutes from Split harbour and a double room cost 350 Kuna in 2005.

In 2005 Frankfurt HHH used kastelan-sukurac c/o family kraljevic tel 098-646 558.

Bus & Coach travel: There are frequent buses between Zagreb and Split. www.akz.hr provides timetable information and has a link in English.

Money: You can get Kuna upon arrival from any automatic teller machine (ATM) using your bank debit card. The airport has one by Arrivals, and ATMs are common in Croatia.

Ferries: For ferries from Italy, contact the SEM MARITIME COMPANY and JADROLINIJA companies as follows:

Jadrolinija: 00385 51 666-128/ passenger-dept@jadrolinija.tel.hr) [Croatia] and Capt. P. Amatori, Port Station Office, 0039 0712071465/ pamatori@tin.it [Ancona]; or the website http://www.jadrolinija.hr/
